Ira Nayman writes humorous science fiction. He is the author of eight novels, most recently The Ugly Truth, the final instalment of the Multiverse Refugees Trilogy. He has also had two dozen short stories published, most recently "Girls Rule the Cyberpunk World!" in Brave New Girls 7 and "Guess This is Your Unlucky Day," in Dragon Gems (Fall, 2023), which will be released the same weekend as Can*Con. He was the editor of Amazing Stories magazine and Amazing Selects for three years. His first anthology as editor, The Dance, will be published by Dark Dragon Press late in March, 2024.

Ira will be reading from two of his short stories starting at 6:55 on Friday, October 13. As he describes it: "At the start of 2023, I decided to say out loud what I had been thinking for a few years: I write weird shit. This admission will be reflected in my readings this year. At Can*Con, I will be reading from the short story 'ePik Flayl Creates the Wor(l)d...Again' (from Dreaming the God, forthcoming). ELEVATOR PITCH: A history of communications media told as a series of Trickster tales. I will also be reading from the novella 'Land of Wonders,' (still waiting to hear back from a publisher who has expressed an interest - cross your fingers!), the first of four novellas that, taken together, make up the work Alisha's Adventures in the Land of Wonders. ELEVATOR PITCH: As you might expect from the title, this is a 21st century homage to the work of Lewis Carroll.

"I am also on the Sandman panel on Saturday (I think it will be awesome - really looking forward to it) and doing blue pencil edits on Sunday. When not doing those things, I will be at my table in the dealer's room; always happy to talk to people about life, the universe and everything...related to my writing. Or, writing generally. Or, speculative fiction movies and TV (how is it possible that I have only just started watching the first season of What We Do in the Shadows?). Okay, everything. Except gravitational theory or the Middle East. So, almost everything.
