Outer space is unlike any frontier humankind has traversed: unfathomable distances, mind (and time) bending physics, absolutely inhospitable conditions, etc. Understanding the challenges and opportunities of outer space is critical to being able to construct a realistic and coherent world for your characters and their problems. The audience will be taken back in time to understand the history and economics of exploration, colonization, and development of rules and institutions and how these lessons provide invaluable analogs for extraterrestrial storytelling.
