Arguably the most literary of fantasy genres, fabulism comes with its own challenges and pitfalls. How do you craft a world where the magic is subtle and undefined, but still stands out as “magic”? Does it need to, or can the sense of wonder include never knowing the “realness” of that magic? How does an author balance between too much and too little in the way of rules of magic when writing fabulism?
